The Onrust Project in Rotterdam Junction, NY have recreated a replica of Adriaen Block’s sloop on which he explored the Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts coasts as far as Cape Cod. Based on the voyages of the Onrust, the Dutch would lay claim to parts of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania which they would call New Netherlands.Thursday, May 28, 2009
