Expedition WHYDAH

EXPEDITION WHYDAH
Whydah is the first pirate shipwreck to be positively identified and therefore may be the only glimpse that we'll ever have into the material culture of an extraordinarily secretive group of men- the pirates of the 17th and 18th century Atlantic world.
The Whydah pirate shipwreck site was discovered in 1984, artifacts are still being recovered each dive season since. For the rest of the story Click Here.

Tall Ship Wavertree

Built in 1885 for global cargo passages under sail, WAVERTREE is the largest full-rigged sailing ship built of wrought iron still afloat. After sailing for a quarter century, she limped into the Falkland Islands in December 1910, demasted rounding Cape Horn. Rather than being re-rigged she was sold as a floating warehouse, until going to New York in 1968. WAVERTREE is now being restored for public access by the South Street Seaport Museum.
